All aboard: pirate actors and shows
The actors carry the storyline of the pirate event. This is how we designed it in a proposal for 300 guests on a 16th-century galley in Barcelona:
- Themed portal: the entrance takes guests into another world; access control and pirate props are handled there.
- Costumed actors who interact with guests and set the scene, for example loading cargo onto the ship.
- The drunken pirate: bursts in at the end of the cocktail hour, talks about a hidden treasure and leads into the boarding show with a sword fight.
- Dinner by torchlight and bonfires, with short fire and dance shows between courses.
With children, the same storyline works with a pirate storyteller full of treasure and adventure.
Treasure hunt, games and pirate casino
After the boarding, guests split into groups to recover the treasure. Each group wins a piece of the map or the key, and only by joining everyone's pieces does the chest open: a perfect ending for delivering a company message.
- Treasure hunt: team challenges in a garden, a forest or the city itself.
- Mystery on the galley: team-building challenges to work out how the map fits together.
- Water group (on a beach or in a port): catamaran, paddle surf or diving to find sunken pieces.
- Target games and inflatables for families and children.
- Tortuga Island pirate casino: roulette, Blackjack and dice with croupiers and gold coins with no value.

Pirate themed event décor
Pirate theming works just as well on a seaside terrace as in a hotel ballroom. We decorate by zones, depending on the venue and budget:
- Entrance: a themed portal so guests feel they are stepping on board.
- Photocall: skull-flag backdrop, barrels, a ship's wheel and tropical plants.
- Room: barrels, wooden crates, nets, ropes, lanterns and treasure chests.
- Tables: centrepieces with gold coins, skulls and candles.
- Outdoors: torches and bonfires for dinner and pirate background music.
Props for guests (eye patches, bandanas, hats) are handed out at the entrance.

Pirate themed event dress code
The pirate dress code is easy to recognise and easy for guests to put together. Some ideas for the invitation:
- Women: frock coat or corset, skirt or wide trousers, tall boots, bandana and tricorn hat.
- Men: loose white shirt, waistcoat, sash, striped trousers and boots.
- Accessories: eye patch, bandana, hoop earring and toy sword.
Anyone who arrives without a costume gets pirate props at the entrance.
Catering and bar for the pirate event
In the galley proposal, catering and an open bar ran throughout the event, with pirate background music, and the day ended with a seated dinner by torchlight. Ideas that fit:
- Welcome cocktail with rum and tropical drinks.
- Dinner with torches, bonfires and fire shows.
- Candy bar with chocolate coins for children.
- Rest area with an open bar between activities.
How to adapt the pirate event to each client
- Company team building: team treasure hunt with pieces that only fit together through teamwork, with the company's message as the final treasure.
- Family event or family day: storyteller, target games, inflatables and photocall.
- Children's party or birthday: pirate storyteller, face painting and a short treasure hunt.
- Company dinner: boarding show, pirate casino and fire show.
- Trade fair or activation: photocall with a ship's wheel and target stalls with the brand's image.
Space, set-up and staff for the pirate event
Set-up depends on what is booked: a storyteller needs little more than a quiet area, while a sword-fight show needs clear space and a safety zone for the audience.
- Set-up: 2 to 4 hours depending on the amount of décor.
- Outdoors: activities, boat, dinner area and party should be close to each other; beaches and ports need permits arranged in advance.
- Staff: actors, instructors for each game group, hostesses and croupiers if booked.
Around 80% of our events take place outside Barcelona: Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza or Vigo.
Pirate party for town festivals, beach hotels and communions
Set sail for adventure
A pirate party for town festivals fills the square with locals of every age: actors roaming the streets, target games for the little ones and a boarding show that gathers the whole town. For councils it is a theme that is easy to understand and enjoy, working just as well in the afternoon as after dark.
Beach hotels schedule it as a summer theme night for their guests or for company groups staying with them, with sand and sea as natural scenery. At communions and birthdays, the storyteller and the treasure hunt keep children busy while adults relax. And if you want a pirate party on a boat in Barcelona, we adapt the set-up to the deck and its safety rules.
- Municipal and local festivities with pirate actors in the streets, games for children and a final boarding show.
- Beach hotel theme nights for holiday guests or company groups staying over in summer.
- Communions and children’s birthdays with a pirate storyteller and a treasure hunt for all the little ones.
- Parties on board a boat or at the harbour, with the set-up adapted to the deck and its safety.
