Mariachis, actors and piñata: the Mexican event entertainment

Imagen

Live music is the soul of the Mexican themed event. The mariachis (up to 6 musicians with instruments and vocals) can make a surprise entrance and surround the guests, playing 30-minute sets spread throughout the night.

  • Classic repertoire: El Rey, Cielito lindo, Jalisco, Bésame mucho, Las mañanitas, La bamba or México lindo y querido, among many others.
  • Surprise bandits: 4 actors dressed as period Mexicans (2 women and 2 men) interrupt dinner in 2 sets of 10 to 15 minutes to make the room laugh.
  • Mexican entertainers: a masked wrestler and a Mexican girl entertain guests from the welcome onwards, with jokes, challenges and photos.
  • Piñata: blindfolded guests try to break it with a stick, with a prize inside.

Mexican event food: tacos, nachos and micheladas

At the Mexican themed event food is part of the show: it is prepared in front of the guests and the carts decorate the space.

  • Tacos made to order, as a main course or cocktail-style.
  • Nacho cart with melted cheese and salsas, served by a server.
  • Micheladas and cocktails: a cocktail bar with margaritas and tequila drinks.
  • Slushies for daytime or summer events.
  • Colourful sweets table for dessert.

The carts only need a nearby socket and a surface to prepare and serve.

Mexican and Day of the Dead décor for the Mexican themed event

Imagen

The décor is chosen according to the tone of the event: a colourful Mexican fiesta or Day of the Dead, with skulls and altars.

  • Mexican fiesta: 250 × 150 cm Mexican flags, papel picado garlands (24 m, extendable), hanging paper fans of 20 to 40 cm, giant cacti and a piñata.
  • Day of the Dead: giant standing skulls (150 × 50 cm), an offering altar of 400 × 200 cm or 500 × 100 cm and tripods with sugar skull banners (150 × 70 cm).
  • Photocall: 300 × 200 cm banner on a lighting truss, with a customisable design and props.
  • Props for guests: sombreros, ponchos, moustaches, bandanas, bullet belts, wrestler and skull masks.

We install the garlands and fans ourselves; they can also be used to dress a stage.

Mexican themed event dress code

Imagen
Músicos con traje de charro y moño para un evento temático Mexicano

A simple dress code gets everyone into the party. Some ideas for the invitation:

  • Men: charro sombrero, poncho or sarape, white shirt, neckerchief and a fake moustache.
  • Women: full colourful skirts, embroidered blouses, flowers in the hair and a rebozo shawl.
  • Day of the Dead version: catrina or skull make-up and flower crowns.

At the entrance we hand out props (sombreros, ponchos, moustaches and masks) for anyone who arrives without a costume, and a catrina make-up service can be added.

Catering and bar for the Mexican event

The menu can range from an informal cocktail reception to a full dinner:

  • Cocktail reception: assorted tacos, nachos with guacamole and salsas, quesadillas and tortilla chips.
  • Dinner: taco stations made to order and a colourful sweets table for dessert.
  • Bar: micheladas, margaritas, Mexican beer and tequila drinks, with aguas frescas and soft drinks for non-drinkers.

If the client already has a caterer, we fit in the carts and the themed bar as an add-on.

How to adapt the Mexican event to each client

  • Company dinner: surprise mariachis, bandits halfway through dinner and a piñata with a prize at the end.
  • Birthday or private party: a mariachi serenade for the guest of honour, Las mañanitas and a photocall with props.
  • Wedding: mariachis during the cocktail hour or as guests leave the ceremony, and a nacho cart at the reception.
  • Town council or local festival: Day of the Dead décor to dress a stage or a square.
  • Brand activation: custom photocall and carts with the client's logo.

Space, set-up and staff for the Mexican event

The set-up is light: the mariachis move between the tables without needing a stage, and the taco or nacho station needs a nearby power point and a surface to prepare and serve.

  • Set-up: 2 to 4 hours depending on the décor; we install the garlands, fans and altars ourselves.
  • Staff: mariachis, actors, entertainers and cart servers, depending on what is booked.
  • Collection: some of the décor can be collected from and returned to our warehouse.
  • Access: we need to know about stairs, goods lifts and loading times.

Around 80% of our events take place outside Barcelona: Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza or Vigo.

Day of the Dead party for corporate Halloween and Mexican weddings

Colour and tradition

A Day of the Dead party for companies is the stylish alternative to the usual Halloween: colourful skulls, decorated altars and mariachi music instead of cheap scares. Scheduled for late October, a corporate Halloween party gains identity and photos nobody else has, while keeping the fun of a costume night.

At a Mexican themed wedding, the mariachis make a surprise entrance during the drinks reception and freshly made tacos replace the usual canapés. Restaurants and venues opening their doors use it as a colourful launch party. And if you want to hire mariachis in Barcelona, Madrid or any other city as part of a complete party, we coordinate everything in a single quote.

  • Corporate Halloween parties with a Day of the Dead look, skulls, altars and live mariachis.
  • Mexican themed weddings with surprise mariachis at the drinks reception and tacos made on the spot.
  • Restaurant and venue openings, with papel picado décor, live music and a piñata.
  • Summer Mexican parties on terraces and in gardens, with micheladas, nachos and wrestler entertainers.
