The mechanical bull's control panel
The professional mechanical bull is run from a separate control tower, from which our operator adapts the movement and the difficulty to each rider.
The panel has manual and automatic modes, a joystick, independent speed control, a digital timer, an emergency stop and a safety system. It runs on a standard 100-240 V / 50-60 Hz supply.
Manual control: buck and spin
In manual mode the operator controls every movement of the bull directly with the joystick.
BUCK controls the pitch of the bull — the up and down movement that mimics a rodeo bull's jumps.
SPIN controls the horizontal rotation, turning the bull left or right.
The two can be combined, allowing up to eight different directions and combinations. Spin speed and buck speed are also regulated independently, so the ride can be set for children, adults or more experienced riders.
Automatic mode
We can also use the bull's automatic mode, which runs programmed movements without the operator having to work the joystick constantly.
This system has three difficulty levels, from gentle movements for beginners to faster, more intense sequences. The panel selects the level and times each rider on the LED display.
Music during the activity
The panel includes a radio and a USB connection, so we can run music alongside the activity where the event calls for it. Western or rodeo music works particularly well, though the event's own music can be used instead.
Safety systems
The operator has an emergency stop button that halts the bull immediately.
This type of bull can also run with a fall sensor, designed to stop the movement when the rider comes off.
The mechanical bull's base and motor
The lower part of the bull houses the motor and the mechanical system responsible for the spin and buck movements.
The mechanical base takes up roughly 80 × 80 cm, and the complete unit is around 160 cm long × 79 cm wide × 158 cm high.
What kind of floor does it need?
To install the mechanical bull for events properly we need a flat, firm, level surface: the manufacturer specifies installation on horizontal ground.
The base has four metal feet, one at each corner, which give the unit stability while it runs.
Before positioning the structure we fit protection between the metal feet and the floor, avoiding direct contact with the surface. That lets us protect floors such as:
