What the popcorn cart is
A popcorn cart has two parts: the machine that pops the corn and the trolley that holds it, with a nostalgic vintage look straight out of a 1920s fairground.
The popper makes sweet or salted popcorn and keeps it warm while guests help themselves from the tubs set along the side of the cart. It pairs well with hiring the candy floss cart too.
How the popcorn machine works
- Plug the machine into a standard 220 V socket.
- Switch on the 3 switches: light and keep-warm, kettle motor, and kettle heat.
- Add the measure of sunflower oil (40 cl, never olive oil), the measure of corn and the measure of special salt (8-10 g).
- Wait until the popping stops: the popcorn is ready.
- Lift the kettle lid and tip the popcorn out with the lever.
- Important: after each batch, switch the kettle heat off and leave only the keep-warm on, so the kettle isn't scorched.
- For sweet coloured popcorn, swap the salt for the special sugar (equal parts ordinary sugar and colour concentrate).
The hire includes the three measures (salt, corn and oil) along with the corn, the oil and the special salt.

- Power: 220 V, 1,370 W at full output (300 W on keep-warm). On a generator, that draw has to be allowed for.
- Total footprint: 160 × 100 × 150 cm (machine, operator and guests).
- Outdoors: cover in case of rain, and supervision if it stands unused for several days.
- The cart is on wheels so it can be moved during the event: unplug it before moving and plug it back in at the new spot.

Consumables needed
Guide figures for consumables per number of tubs:
- 6 tubs (1 batch): 200 g corn, 5 g ordinary sugar, 5 g coloured sugar, 10 g special salt, 40 ml sunflower oil.
- 200 tubs: 6.6 kg corn, 180 g ordinary sugar, 180 g coloured sugar, 340 g special salt, 1 litre sunflower oil.
- 600 tubs: 20 kg corn, ½ kg ordinary sugar, ½ kg coloured sugar, 1 kg special salt, 3 litres sunflower oil.
Branding the popcorn cart
The cart can be branded with full-colour 3 mm Forex PVC EuroLight, both on the lower panel of the trolley (38 × 51 cm) and along the top of the machine's glass (43 × 7.5 cm at the front and 29 × 7.5 cm on the sides).
Allow one working week for printing and fitting.
Staff needed for the popcorn cart
No staff are required: the machine is simple and we explain it in full on delivery, taking as long as needed.
If preferred, a host or technician can be hired to make the popcorn throughout the event, charged by the hour. In Barcelona that's the usual arrangement; for other cities it's best to ask in advance so it can be planned.

Set-up and hire across Spain
Setting up the popcorn cart is simple: everything arrives ready except joining the machine to the trolley, so the time depends mostly on the walk from the van to the spot where it will be used.
It can be booked anywhere in the country: around 80% of our events take place outside Barcelona, in cities such as Madrid, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Lleida, Girona and Tarragona. Set-up, take-down and transport are always included in the final quoted price and vary with the location.

How far ahead should you book? A day's notice can work, depending on availability, but the ideal is a month beforehand, mainly because of the special consumables (professional salt and sugar), which need a few days to arrive.
To book the popcorn cart we ask for a 50% advance payment, invoiced. Email us:
- When it is set up: day and time.
- When the event starts: day and time.
- On-site contact person, with name and phone number.
- Exact address of the event.
- Your tax details for the invoice.
Cancellation: the booking secures exclusive use of the product on that date. If it rains (where it was planned outdoors) or the whole event is called off, everything you paid is refunded in full.
