Live workshops: shodo calligraphy, sumi-e and origami
The workshops are the heart of the Japanese themed event: guests watch an artist at work and then try it themselves.
- Shodo calligraphy: the artist writes on rice paper the words guests ask for (their name, the company's, a team value) and hands them out. A guided workshop is optional.
- Sumi-e painting: live ink works for about two hours, in A3 or A4, that guests take home. The artist can wear a kimono and a Japanese hairstyle.
- Origami: cranes, butterflies, flowers, frogs and stars created live, with a workshop included.
Each table also has a small exhibition of the artist's more complex pieces. An idea that works very well: writing each guest's name in katakana on a fan as a keepsake.

Shows for the Japanese event: taiko drums and samurai show
The shows set the pace of the Japanese event and mark the key moments of the schedule.
- Taiko drums: a 10 to 15-minute percussion performance with great visual and sound impact. Ideal as an opening or a finale.
- Samurai show: a display of Japanese martial arts with katana and traditional weapons, with the ceremonial bow at the start and the end.
- Japanese-styled hostesses: they welcome guests, add to the atmosphere and manage workshop shifts for large groups.
A balanced combination for 2 or 3 hours: taiko as a high-impact opening, a calligraphy or origami workshop as the main activity and sumo as a fun finale.

Inflatable sumo and challenges for Japanese team building
Sumo is the most fun part of the Japanese themed event and one of the activities we recommend most for team-building dynamics.
- How it works: two players in inflatable suits and helmets try to push each other out of the circular ring.
- Safety: all the impact is absorbed by the inflatable suit and the padded floor; protective equipment is included.
- Space: about 3 × 3 metres, indoors or outdoors.
- Tournament format: team bouts with knockout rounds and a final in front of the whole group.
It can be combined with other quick challenges or giant games so the whole group takes part while the bouts go on.

Styling and dress code for the Japanese themed event
The styling relies on traditional elements and adapts to indoor or outdoor venues:
- Décor: folding screens, paper lanterns, cherry blossom and decorative calligraphy.
- Artists: the shodo and sumi-e artists can wear a traditional kimono; this is confirmed in the quote depending on their availability for the date.
- Guests: the invitation can suggest a Japanese touch, such as a kimono or yukata, or a red, black and white palette.
How to adapt the Japanese event to each client
- Team building: team calligraphy or origami workshop and a sumo tournament as the finale.
- Corporate event or Christmas: taiko opening, workshops during the cocktail hour and a keepsake with each guest's name.
- Trade fair or conference: live shodo calligraphy works as a constant draw at the stand, and origami runs in 30-minute slots to manage visitor flow.
- Wedding or private celebration: calligraphy stand with guests' names and sumi-e as a keepsake.
Space, set-up and staff for the Japanese event
- Shodo and sumi-e: a large table, good lighting and surface protection because of the ink. Outdoors, a stable surface sheltered from the wind for the rice paper.
- Taiko: a clear space of at least 3 × 3 metres for the drummers' wide movements.
- Sumo: the same 3 × 3-metre space plus the padded safety floor.
- Staff: each activity comes with its own artist or team; themed hostesses are quoted separately depending on numbers.

Japanese party for companies, Asian clients and hanami
Culture of Japan
A Japanese party for companies offers something unusual: a calm yet hands-on event, where people learn something new and take home a handmade keepsake. When welcoming Asian delegations and clients, it is also a cultural gesture that is highly valued. Calm, art and a touch of friendly competition.
In spring, a hanami cherry blossom party in a garden or on a terrace turns the company lunch into a seasonal celebration. At manga conventions and shopping centres, live workshops and sumo draw visitors of all ages. It also suits wellbeing days, where calligraphy and origami help people switch off. We organise it in Barcelona, Madrid and all of Spain.
- Asian clients and delegations: workshops and taiko for a warm, respectful welcome.
- Spring hanami parties: cherry blossom decoration, calligraphy and outdoor dining with the team.
- Manga conventions: inflatable sumo and workshops that fill the space with young visitors.
- Wellbeing days: calligraphy, sumi-e and origami as calm activities to switch off from work.

How far in advance should we book?
At least 3 or 4 weeks, as specialist artists have limited availability.
Booking the Japanese themed event
At a Japanese themed event the specialist artists usually have a tighter diary than other acts in our catalogue, so we recommend getting in touch with us at least 3-4 weeks beforehand.
Cancelling the booking: the terms appear in writing on the quote and change depending on the time remaining until the confirmed date. If you expect something may vary, tell our team before giving your final yes.
