What energy-generating bikes are

Energy-generating bikes for events are an innovative, interactive way of getting participants involved in producing sustainable energy: static bikes with generators that turn pedalling into electricity.

Guests simply pedal to produce light, creating a unique visual spectacle while getting a tangible sense of what it takes to power a lighting system. An alternative that lights the event creatively and projects an environmentally conscious brand image.

How the bike light game works

Each participant gets a go at generating as much power as they can during a sprint. The peak watts each person produces are measured, and whoever generates the most tops the leaderboard.

The power generated is proportional to the effort, which gives a very tangible sense of what it takes to run everyday devices. Each turn is quick, intuitive and great fun, and it gets people competing.

Energy-Generating Bikes at a real event

Are event staff needed?

Having event staff — hosts or technicians — is strongly recommended to get the most out of the activity.

They don't just guide people: they explain the rules, demonstrate how to use the equipment properly and keep a steady flow of participants. They also answer questions, deal with any hitch and make sure everything runs, so the client can focus on enjoying the event.

Energy bike specifications

  • Unit size: 120 x 160 x 60 cm (Height x Width x Depth).
  • Material: metal frame.
  • Lighting: LED designs with programmable colours.
  • Audience: suitable for all ages.
  • No external power needed: the energy generated by pedalling powers the LED system itself.
  • Players: 1 to 2 at a time.

Why choose the energy-generating bikes?

  • Visual impact: the illuminated designs catch the eye and invite people to join in.
  • Social interaction: they get people talking — useful at fairs, conventions and corporate meetings where networking is the point.
  • Education and awareness: a sustainable activity ideal for community and educational exhibitions.
  • Friendly competition: pedal-power challenges add a competitive edge that lifts the atmosphere.
  • No consumption: nothing to plug in — the participants supply the energy.

How many players can take part

The game takes 1 to 2 people at a time, which suits very different spaces and events:

  • Individual competition: one participant competes against their own record or against others in separate turns.
  • Pairs competition: two participants compete against each other or work together, depending on how the game is set up.

In either format, the pedal-power competition works as well at intimate events as at large gatherings.

What kind of events the bikes are ideal for

Energy-generating bikes are a versatile attraction that fits many formats:

  • Fairs and conventions
  • Town halls and institutional events
  • Company dinners
  • Sustainability and environmental awareness events
  • Brand activations
  • Corporate meetings and networking events
  • Community and educational exhibitions

They appeal to sporty types and challenge-seekers alike, and they're a good way to break the ice between guests.

Energy-generating bikes for CSR actions and mobility weeks

Energy with purpose

If you are looking for a sustainable activity for companies that makes your CSR commitment visible, pedalling to switch on lights explains it better than any presentation. Every participant feels in their legs what it takes to produce energy. An environmental message you feel, not just hear, perfect for sustainable team building.

Councils and companies choose them for European Mobility Week or World Environment Day, as they combine sport, awareness and friendly competition. At industry fairs, energy bikes for energy company stands or e-mobility brands reinforce the brand message with a hands-on experience. Tell us about your event and we will prepare a proposal, with or without custom branding.

  • CSR actions: energy bikes for internal sustainability days and to communicate the company's environmental commitment.
  • Mobility Week: a public activity for councils wanting to promote cycling and clean energy.
  • Sustainable team building: team wattage challenges that combine competition, exercise and eco awareness.
  • Energy sector stands: a hands-on experience linking your brand with renewable energy generation.

Energy bikes customised with your brand

Energy bikes customised with your brand build your logo and visual identity into the experience, at an extra cost. Their advantages:

  • Visibility: your company is the centre of attention.
  • Interaction: attendees interact with your brand while generating energy.
  • Impact at fairs: more participation and photos.
  • Memory: they link the experience to your company.

We dress each bike's frame and guards (160 x 120 cm) in vinyl and can add a PVC panel with the watts leaderboard. You send your artwork or we create it in a couple of days; trusted suppliers print and our team applies it.

They travel in plastic film and arrive as good as new. Ideal for sustainable events with brand image.

Energy bike hire price

We tailor the price of the energy bikes: how long the event lasts, the location, branding with your logo and any extra services come into play. Request a quote with no obligation and we'll design the proposal that fits you best.

Set-up, transport and installation

We handle the whole process so you don't have to worry about a thing:

  • Advance planning: getting the position right before installation matters. Once assembled, the bikes are fixed in the space allocated.
  • No external power: the energy generated by pedalling powers the LED system.
  • Installation: our technical team carries it out quickly and safely; average set-up time is around one hour once the equipment is on site.
  • Pack-down and removal afterwards, leaving the space in perfect condition.

Moving the bikes once installed isn't immediate: any change of position requires a full dismantle, move and reinstall, with technical coordination and an additional relocation cost. That's why we recommend planning the space carefully beforehand.

We install anywhere in the country — around 80% of our games are set up outside Barcelona, in cities such as Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza and Vigo — and the final quote covers transport, delivery and full installation.

Booking the energy-generating bikes

At United Events we recommend you book the energy-generating bikes at least two months ahead: that secures availability, guarantees nobody else gets them that day and gives us time to coordinate logistics and prepare the equipment for you.

Your booking is confirmed with:

  • An advance of 50% of the event's total cost.
  • The date and schedule.
  • The exact address and a contact person.
  • Tax details for invoicing.

When the payment arrives, the date is exclusively yours and is not offered to another client.

Frequently asked questions

What are the energy-generating bikes for events?

They are static bikes with a generator that turn pedalling into electricity to power LED lighting. Each participant does a sprint, the power is measured in watts, and whoever generates the most tops the leaderboard. It is a competitive and sustainable activity.

How many people can use the energy-generating bikes at once?

What do the energy-generating bikes need: electricity, space and set-up?

They need no electricity, as the pedalling generates the energy. Each unit measures 160 x 120 x 60 cm and weighs 28 kg. Set-up and dismantling take about 1 hour each, and moving them afterwards requires a full dismantle. The recommended space is confirmed on request.

Is staff needed for the energy-generating bikes?
