What a charanga is
A charanga is a group of brass and percussion players who perform standing, with no stage and no power, moving among the crowd. It isn't a concert you attend: it's music that appears out of nowhere, surrounds the audience and carries them along.
It's the most direct way there is to lift the mood of an event in three minutes. It works as well at a town festival as at a wedding, an opening or a company dinner.

Brass band for town festivals, street parades and sporting events
Few things sound more like a town festival than a brass band marching through the streets. A brass band for town festivals is what councils and festival committees rely on to carry the atmosphere from one square to the next and bring together neighbours of all ages.
- Street parades: the musicians play on the move and people join in along the way.
- Opening speech and official events: a set before or after the main ceremony gives it a festive start.
- Sporting events: at fun runs or matches, wind music cheers on participants and fans.
- Party repertoire: pasodobles, festival classics and pop and rock covers for all audiences.
As the instruments are acoustic, there is no need for a stage, sound system or power, and the band adapts to streets, squares and open-air venues. The group ranges from 6 to 10 musicians depending on the space and crowd size. We bring our street parade brass band and music for popular festivals to Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia and across Spain.
What the charanga needs
Very little, and that's the point: the instruments are acoustic, so no stage, no PA and no power are needed. All it takes is room for the musicians to move.
It works indoors and outdoors. Indoors, tell us about the ceiling and the capacity, because a charanga in a small room is very loud. Set-up and take-down take a good quarter of an hour.
Why book a charanga?
- It lifts the mood in three minutes: brass music in among the crowd leaves nobody sitting down.
- No stage, no power, so it goes where a band with gear can't.
- A repertoire you choose, including specific songs you ask for.
- The surprise effect: it appears out of nowhere and pulls the crowd with it.
How the performance is organised
The usual format is sets of 30 to 45 minutes, with a break if the event is long. The group runs from 6 to 10 musicians depending on the space and the crowd.
The repertoire is chosen beforehand: pasodobles and town-festival classics, pop and rock covers, or specific songs you ask for. If you want something outside the usual set, tell us in good time so they can prepare it.
What events the charanga fits
The charanga fits many formats:
- Town festivals and street parades
- Weddings and private celebrations
- Openings and launches
- Company dinners and parties
- Fairs, festivals and sports events
Hire a charanga band for stag dos, conferences and the couple's entrance
A moving party
If you want your event to start with energy from the very first minute, hiring a charanga band in Barcelona or anywhere in Spain is the most direct way. At stag and hen parties, accompanying the group through the streets with brass music turns the afternoon into a parade, and the guest of honour never forgets it.
At conferences and conventions, a surprise brass band at the end of the day breaks the formality and leads attendees straight to dinner or drinks. At weddings, the couple's entrance with a charanga is a classic that never fails, and at milestone birthdays and anniversaries it adds the festive touch the celebration deserves. Ask us for a quote with your date and venue.
- Stag and hen parties: a street parade with brass music that accompanies the group throughout the celebration.
- Conferences and corporate conventions: a surprise brass band that closes the day and leads everyone to the drinks.
- The couple's grand entrance: live music that welcomes the newlyweds and sweeps the guests towards the reception.
- Milestone birthdays and anniversaries: the festive touch that turns a family celebration into a real party.

Charanga price
The wedding and event brass band is quoted by the number of musicians, the duration and the number of passes, and the location. The price of hiring the charanga comes in a personalised quote with no commitment; just ask.
Hire across Spain
The charanga can be booked anywhere in the country: around 80% of our events take place outside Barcelona, in cities such as Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza and Vigo.
There's no technical set-up: the musicians arrive with their instruments and need only somewhere to get ready and room to move among the crowd.
Booking the charanga
The charanga is reserved once you advance 50% by invoice. After that, email us when the event is and at what time the planned passes will play; where, with the exact address and a contact; how many musicians and which tunes you want played; and the tax details for billing.
If you cancel for a justified reason, we will consider returning the amount in line with what was agreed.
Frequently asked questions
What is a charanga and how does it work at an event?
It is a group of brass and percussion musicians who play standing up, without a stage, moving among the guests. It has between 6 and 10 musicians depending on the space and the number of guests. We do sets of 30 to 45 minutes, with a break if the event is long, and the repertoire is chosen beforehand.
Does a charanga need electricity or a stage?
No, a charanga needs no electricity, stage or sound equipment, because the instruments are acoustic. All it needs is room for the musicians to move among the audience and somewhere to get ready. Set-up and take-down each take about 15 minutes.
Can I book a charanga for an indoor wedding?
Yes, a charanga works indoors and outdoors, and it is a wedding classic, for example for the couple's entrance. Indoors, please tell us the ceiling height and the number of guests, because in a small room a charanga sounds very loud.
Can I request specific songs from the charanga?
Yes, the charanga's repertoire is adapted to the event: pasodobles and classic fiesta tunes, pop and rock covers, or specific songs you ask for. If you want a song that is not in the usual repertoire, let us know in advance so the musicians can prepare it.
Where can you take the charanga?
We work from Barcelona and take the charanga anywhere in Spain: roughly 80% of our events take place outside Barcelona. There is no technical set-up, as the musicians arrive with their instruments. Request a quote with the date and place using the form on the page.
