What close-up magic is

The magician comes up to a table or a circle of six or eight people and performs magic a hand's width from their faces: cards, coins, rubber bands, someone's watch. No stage, no distance, no curtain to hide anything behind.

That closeness is the whole effect: people watch from above, from the sides and from the front, and still see nothing. It's the format that works best at company dinners and weddings, because it doesn't interrupt the event — it moves through it.

Close-Up Magic at a real event

Close-up magic for weddings: drinks, dinner and waiting for the couple

Every wedding has its quiet moments: waiting while the couple have their photos taken, moving from the drinks reception to the dining room, or the minutes between courses. Close-up magic for weddings fills those gaps without interrupting anything. The magician approaches each group, performs magic right under their noses and moves on.

  • During the drinks reception: the magician mingles with guests and breaks the ice between the two families.
  • While the couple arrive: the photo session often runs over, and the magic keeps everyone entertained.
  • Between courses: five to ten-minute sets at each table, without interrupting service or speeches.
  • For all ages: cards, coins, rubber bands or a guest's watch amaze grandparents and children alike.

It needs no stage, microphone or power socket, so it suits any estate, country house or restaurant. One magician comfortably covers around ten tables in two hours; for larger weddings, two is better. That way the wedding magician becomes one of the most talked-about moments of your celebration.

What's needed

Nothing. No stage, no microphone, no special lighting, no power. The magician arrives with what fits in their pockets and starts.

It is by far the easiest act to slot into an event already planned, and the only one that can be added at a few days' notice.

Why book close-up magic?

  • It doesn't interrupt the event: close-up magic at company dinners moves between tables without stopping the programme.
  • No rigging, no technical requirements, so it fits any space.
  • It can be added at a few days' notice.
  • A direct effect: people watch from inches away and still can't explain it.

How it's organised

The magician rotates between tables or groups, with sets of five to ten minutes at each. At a reception they move through the crowd; at a dinner, between courses.

For a large crowd it's worth doing the maths: one magician comfortably covers around ten tables in two hours. Beyond that, book two.

What events close-up magic fits

Close-up magic fits many formats:

  • Company dinners and end-of-year celebrations
  • Weddings, communions and family celebrations
  • Welcome receptions at conventions
  • Networking events with clients or partners
  • Trade fairs and promotional stands

Close-up magician for company dinners, trade fairs and cocktails

Magic at every table

If you are looking to hire a close-up magician for your next event, table magic is the most flexible option there is. A magician for company dinners breaks the ice between colleagues who barely know each other and turns every table into a small private show, without stopping the speeches or the service.

At a trade fair stand, a magician with cards and coins stops visitors who would otherwise walk past and gives your sales team the perfect opening line. At corporate cocktails and networking events he creates little circles of laughter between strangers. And as a wedding magician, he keeps guests entertained while the couple are busy with their photos.

  • Trade fair stands: a magician who draws in visitors and opens conversations for your sales team.
  • Networking cocktail receptions: table magic that brings strangers together and breaks the ice in minutes.
  • Weddings and drinks receptions: entertainment for guests while the couple pose for the photographer.
  • Office Christmas dinners: the magician moves between tables and courses, lifting the whole team.

Close-up magic price

Close-up magic is quoted by hours of performance and by capacity, which decides how many magicians are needed, plus the event location. That is how the close-up magic price is built. Ask us for a personalised quote, no commitment.

Hire across Spain

Close-up magic can be booked anywhere in the country: around 80% of our events take place outside Barcelona, in cities such as Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza and Vigo.

There's nothing to set up: the magician arrives, checks in with whoever's running the event and starts working the tables. It's worth agreeing the running order with the front-of-house team beforehand.

Booking close-up magic

The close-up magic booking is sealed by paying 50% upfront against an invoice. By email, tell us: when the event is and in which time slot the magician would perform; where, with the exact address and a contact; how many tables or guests there will be, to judge whether more than one magician is needed; and the tax details.

If you cancel for justified reasons, we study refunding the amount in line with the agreed conditions.

Frequently asked questions

What is close-up magic and how does it work at a dinner?

It is a format in which the magician goes up to a table or a group of six to eight people and performs magic inches from their faces, with cards, coins and guests' own objects. It does not interrupt the dinner or the cocktail: the magician tours the tables, with sets of 5 to 10 minutes.

What does close-up magic need?

Close-up magic needs nothing: no stage, microphone, special lighting or power socket, and there is no set-up or take-down. It is only worth agreeing the order of the sets with the catering staff beforehand, so the magician fits around the service.

How many magicians are needed for a large corporate dinner?

A single magician comfortably covers around ten tables in two hours, at a pace of about five tables per hour. For large numbers of guests we send two magicians. The close-up magic service starts at one hour and can be extended by the hour.

Can close-up magic be added at short notice?

Yes, close-up magic can be added just a few days beforehand, because it has no set-up or technical requirements and fits any space, indoors or outdoors. It suits all ages. Give us the date, place and number of guests in the form on the page.

What events is close-up magic suitable for?

It suits corporate dinners, weddings, welcome cocktails at conventions, networking events, trade fairs and stands. At a wedding it entertains the guests while the couple have their photos taken, and at a stand it stops visitors who would otherwise walk past.
