What corporate kayaking is and how it works
A corporate kayaking outing in Barcelona is a guided trip along the coast in double kayaks, with qualified instructors alongside the group in the water.
We start on the beach with a 20-minute briefing: how to hold the paddle, how to turn, what to do if the kayak capsizes (you're back on in under a minute, and everyone practises before setting off) and the signals for regrouping. Then pairs are assigned and off we go.
The route is matched to the level: with an inexperienced group we cover 3 to 5 km hugging the coast, with stops to rest and swim. With fitter groups we can reach coves further out. One instructor always leads and another closes the group.
The kayaks are doubles on purpose: it forces two people to coordinate their paddling rhythm, and that's half the point when it's a work team.

Kayaking on a summer offsite: how to fit it into the company day
A kayak outing works very well as the main morning activity on an offsite or incentive trip on the coast. For the day to run smoothly, it is worth thinking about what comes before and after, and how time is split between the beach, the water and the rest of the programme. That way corporate kayaking adds to the day instead of becoming a race against the clock.
- Morning on the water: the preferred slot, with the opening briefing on the beach followed by the guided paddle.
- Lunch afterwards: a meal near the beach is the natural finish, with the group already relaxed.
- Afternoon of work or rest: after kayaking, the team arrives at a work session with fresh energy.
- Back-up date: we always ask for a second date in case the sea does not cooperate.
The natural season runs from May to October, and every participant must be able to swim. If you like, we can also arrange transport from a pick-up point. This water activity for incentive trips suits teams of up to 60 people, and we run it on the Catalan coast with qualified instructors, a confirmed route and all permits in place.
Corporate kayaking requirements
For a kayaking activity at a company event we need:
- A launch point: a beach with vehicle access, or a jetty. We propose the location based on the date and the state of the sea.
- Able to swim: a mandatory requirement, no exceptions.
- What participants bring: swimwear, a technical shirt, a cap, sun cream and footwear that can get wet.
- A changing area: advisable. If there isn't one, we bring a changing marquee.
We provide double kayaks, paddles, certified buoyancy aids, dry barrels for phones and wallets, a first aid kit and qualified instructors: one per ten participants. On outings of more than 30 people we add a motorised support boat.
Sea conditions: if the forecast gives waves over half a metre or wind above 15 knots, the outing is cancelled. That isn't negotiable.
Why book kayaking for your company event
Kayaking for company events pulls off something difficult: it gets the team out of the work environment for real, not symbolically. On the water there are no phones, no visible hierarchy and no half-measures.
The double kayak forces collaboration without feeling forced: if the two don't paddle in time, the kayak turns in circles. It's team building where nobody has to explain the metaphor.
And unlike other water activities, it's learned in fifteen minutes. Nobody is left out for lack of technique.
What kind of events kayaking suits
Corporate kayaking outings work at:
- Incentives and company trips on the Catalan coast.
- Summer offsites, as the main morning activity.
- Outdoor team building for groups of up to 60.
- Conventions held at beachfront hotels.
- Celebrations of year-end results or targets met.
The natural season runs from May to October. Outside those months it can be done in wetsuits, but the feel of it changes considerably and that's worth weighing up.
Kayak team building in Barcelona and company group trips
Paddling together
A kayak team building day in Barcelona combines the sea, gentle exercise and teamwork in a single morning. A kayak trip for company groups breaks the routine and gets everyone paddling, quite literally, in the same direction, while our instructors handle all the technical side.
If you need a water activity for companies within an incentive on the Catalan coast, kayaking slots into the programme easily and can end with a beach picnic. It also suits team celebrations when a project or financial year wraps up. Book early for summer dates and we will suggest a route that matches your group.
- Coastal incentive trips: a guided kayak route through coves as the centrepiece of the stay.
- Departmental team building: double kayaks that demand coordination and communication with every stroke.
- End-of-project celebrations: a morning at sea followed by lunch on the beach for the whole team.
- Beach hotel conventions: a water activity for companies between working sessions.

Corporate kayaking price
Three factors set the price of a corporate kayak outing: how many kayaks, how many instructors and whether a support boat is needed.
Since the kayaks are doubles, a group of 40 people needs 20 boats, and that is where most of the cost lies. From 30 participants we add a support launch: it raises the quote noticeably, but it is compulsory for safety.
The fee covers all the equipment, the instructors, the activity insurance and the permits to use the beach. Usual extras are group transfer from the office or hotel, a picnic on the beach afterwards and a photo report shot from the water.
Set-up and logistics of the kayaking outing
Setting up a kayaking activity starts long before the group arrives.
We apply for the beach permit, check the marine forecast for the three preceding days and confirm the route. On the day we arrive 45 minutes early to unload the kayaks, set up the equipment area, lay out buoyancy aids by size and prepare the dry-barrel point.
Afterwards we rinse the gear with fresh water, load it up and leave the beach exactly as it was: not a cable tie, not a bottle. That's another 45 minutes.
Booking your corporate kayaking outing
Closing the booking of a kayak outing for your company requires these details:
- Day and time slot, plus a back-up date in case the sea is not cooperating.
- Exactly how many of you there will be, to fit kayaks and instructors.
- That everyone can swim.
- Where to pick you up, if you want us to handle transport.
The deposit is 50%. If we are the ones cancelling because of sea conditions, we give you all your money back or move the activity to another day, as you prefer. Better to book early: July and August weekends fill up a month ahead.
Frequently asked questions
What does a corporate kayak outing involve?
It is a guided coastal paddle in double kayaks, with qualified instructors accompanying the group, lasting 90 to 150 minutes. We start with a 20-minute talk on the beach. For groups with no experience, the route is 3 to 5 km hugging the coast, with stops for a swim.
Do you need to be able to swim to go kayaking at a company event?
Yes, being able to swim is a compulsory requirement for the kayak outing. Everyone also wears an approved life jacket, there is one qualified instructor for every 10 participants and, from 30 people, we add a support boat. Waterproof drums protect phones and wallets during the trip.
How many people can go kayaking, and at what time of year?
The corporate kayak outing suits 10 to 60 people, in groups of 20. The season runs from May to October. Because the kayaks are doubles, the team paddles in pairs and has to coordinate. Our staff are included, so you only choose the date and number of guests.
What happens to the kayak outing if the weather is bad?
If the forecast shows waves above 0.5 metres or wind above 15 knots, we change the date of the kayak outing for safety. We propose the starting point according to the date and sea conditions, so it is best to book well ahead, especially in summer.
What do we need to provide for the kayak outing on the beach?
For the kayak outing we need a beach or jetty with vehicle access; no electricity is required. We arrange the beach-use permit and set up in about 45 minutes. Participants bring swimwear, a cap, sun cream and water shoes, and if there is no changing area we bring a changing tent.
