Where the giant claw craze comes from
Over the past months, several entertainment venues and trade events outside Spain have turned a classic arcade machine into their most shared attraction: a giant claw machine where the prize is a person. The guest straps into a harness, gets lifted over a pit full of gifts, and has to time the grab perfectly before the clock runs out. The result on video is instant — surprised faces, screams, applause: exactly what makes a clip share itself.
It's no coincidence this format is taking off now: the games that work on social media are the ones that need no explanation and trigger a real physical reaction in seconds. At United Events we already had this in our catalogue: it's called the Human Claw Machine, and it runs on that exact same mechanic, ready for weddings, corporate events and trade fairs.
How the Human Claw Machine works
The mechanics are easy to grasp and very visual to watch from the outside. The participant clips into a certified safety harness, gets raised over an area full of plush toys, balls or branded gifts, and from up there controls the claw's "arms" to try to grab one before the turn ends. Each attempt takes under a minute, so the queue keeps moving and there's always someone new giving it a try.
It's exactly that fast turnover of participants that makes it so effective at an event: no complicated rules to explain, any guest gets the goal the moment they watch the person before them try it, and the "did they get it or not" moment builds the same tension as the classic machine — only now starring real people.

The Human Claw Machine in action
How much it costs
The price of renting a human claw machine for an event depends on several factors: hours of use, whether the event is in Barcelona or requires travel, whether the prizes are branded for the client, and the expected number of participants. That's why we don't publish a fixed rate — every event is different and the quote is built around what you actually need.
What we can say is that, compared to other large-format attractions, the human claw machine has a very strong cost-to-impact ratio: a short set-up for many hours of queueing and guest-generated content. Request a quote for your event and we'll confirm availability and price the same day.
What type of event it works best for
The Human Claw Machine works especially well at corporate events and team building, where it acts as an icebreaker between departments that don't usually mix; at trade fairs and congresses, as a draw to bring people to the stand; and at weddings with a themed or playful angle, where it becomes the photo of the night. It also works very well for store openings and brand activations, swapping generic prizes for the brand's own products or merchandise.
Ideas to customise it
The most common customization is changing what's inside the prize pit: plush toys in corporate colours, product packs, tickets or discount vouchers. The structure can also be dressed with the event's branded banner, with the logo shown on the turn-tracking screen, so it blends visually with the rest of the decor instead of standing apart.
