The game that keeps popping up on TikTok
Over the past few weeks, a fairground classic has been going viral on TikTok all over again: people playing giant bowling, dodging real-size pins and filming themselves missing the shot more often than not. The clips keep piling up, shared mostly because of how unexpected it is to see this show up in the middle of an event that has nothing to do with bowling.
The interesting part is that the game itself isn't new — what's viral is the context: seeing it appear where nobody expects it, with people having a great time in front of a handful of giant pins.
What it actually is, and why it works so well at events
Our Giant Bowling set follows the same idea that went viral in Thailand: oversized pins and a ball (or your own body, depending on the variant) to knock them down. You don't need any skill to have fun — missing the shot is usually what gets the biggest laugh from the group — and that's exactly what makes it so shareable: anyone can play, anyone can film it, and something funny always happens.
It needs no electricity, sets up indoors or outdoors, and works just as well with 10 people as with 100 taking turns. That's why it's tagged as a "fairground-style" game in our catalogue: it's the kind of game that draws a crowd and builds anticipation on its own, without anyone having to talk people into trying it.
From TikTok to team building: how we bring it to your event
At United Events we set this up mostly for corporate events and team building, where the goal isn't just playing but getting people to mix, laugh, and walk away with something worth sharing in the company group chat the next day. We already covered this in our ideas for team-building bowling games, and this viral wave just confirms the format still works just as well.
We also bring it to trade fairs, openings and private parties, always with staff included to set it up and run it during the event. No complicated space requirements either: a clear stretch of floor, indoors or out, and you're ready to play.
Ready to bring it to your next event?
If what's taking over TikTok has convinced you, at United Events we already have it ready to set up, no need to wait for it to catch on here. Tell us about your event and we'll help you figure out how it fits best: team building, trade fair, wedding or company party.
