Poker Table for Events

The main aim of poker is to win chips or money by forming the best possible combination of cards, or by making your opponents fold.

It is a type of table that lets guests sit down for a while and chat with other guests as they play, which is a good way to break the ice.

It works well for casino-themed events, Wild West-themed events and James Bond-themed events

Cards in poker are ranked from lowest to highest in the following order: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J (jack), Q (queen), K (king), A (ace). Sometimes the ace can be used as the lowest card to form a straight (A-2-3-4-5).

High card: No combination; it is determined by the highest card in the hand.

Pair: Two cards of the same value.

Two pair: Two pairs of cards of the same value.

Three of a kind: Three cards of the same value.

Straight: Five cards in numerical sequence, not necessarily of the same suit.

Flush: Five cards of the same suit, not necessarily in sequence.

Full house: A pair plus three of a kind in the same hand.

Four of a kind: Four cards of the same value.

Straight flush: A straight of five cards of the same suit.

Royal flush: A straight of 10, J, Q, K, A of the same suit.

Dealing the cards: Each player receives a hand of cards, usually five. In some variants, community cards are dealt in the centre of the table.

Betting rounds: Players bet chips based on the perceived strength of their hands.

Card exchange (optional): In some variants, players have the chance to exchange some or all of their cards for new ones from the deck.

Additional betting rounds: After the card exchange (if any), one or more betting rounds follow.

Showdown: If more than one player remains after the last betting round, hands are shown and the winner is determined according to the card combinations.

Payout of chips: The player with the best hand takes the pot, which consists of the chips bet during the game.
