Fairground Hammer.

The hammer game originated at fairs and circuses in the United States. It was a mechanical machine in which, when force was applied to a surface with a hammer, that force was sent to a puck located behind the surface, which rose according to the force applied.

The aim of the game was to get the puck to the top of its run, where a bell would ring and the player would win a huge cuddly toy.

Strength-testing games at fairs have come in different formats and versions, and the most popular has always been the strength hammer. The mechanism of the strength hammer is basically hitting a platform that is a lever connected to the puck.

At our events we use electronic strength hammers, on which we can adjust the difficulty level.

As it is a product with different modes, it can be set to the lowest mode so that children can play the children's fairground hammer, for ages 5 to 10, and from there we would raise the setting from child to teenager.

The set-up time needed for installation will mainly depend on how easy it is to carry the dismantled game from our vehicle to the place where it is to be installed.

Afterwards, once we have the dismantled machine right where we want to install the mallet game, we need a total of 15 minutes to install it, so between moving it and setting it up we may need around 30 minutes, always depending on how easy it is to transport between our vehicle and the installation spot.

There must be no narrow spaces or stairs between the two points. If the event takes place on an upper floor, the goods lift must be at least 60 cm wide and 60 cm long; normally any goods lift is bigger than that.

The rounds are very quick. The time between one player and the next will depend on the attendees, since a round lasts as long as each player takes to hit the machine twice, which normally takes 1 minute on average.

It is not necessary. This game works on its own and has a button for giving credits; the players themselves can press it to get a credit and start playing.

The main requirement of the hammer machine, as it is an electronic mallet machine, is a standard power socket of 110V or 220V less than 1 metre from the spot where it is to be installed. If the power point is further away, an extension lead must be used, and if the venue does not have one, we would need to be told so that we can bring one.

Another requirement is space. The fairground hammer needs approximately 82.5x227x65cm to be installed, but as it is a game in which participants strike the base, a safety area is needed so that the player cannot hit another person standing near the game. We recommend about 200cm of playing space in length.

If the circus game is placed outdoors and our assistance at the event is not hired, the client would need to be able to deal with possible weather problems such as rain.

Taking into account the space of the hammer, usability needs and the safety area, the ideal space would be the following: 200x300x100cm. (Height x Length x Width).

We bring the fairground hammer game in 3 pieces, divided and dismantled. The central part, where it is struck, accounts for almost all of the total weight, about 140Kg, so two people are needed to move it. The three pieces are fitted together with bolts and the assembly process takes about 15 minutes.

To move it, it would have to be dismantled again and relocated by two people to the chosen place.

If it is not certain from the start of the event where the hammer is to be placed, what we can do is leave it on a wheeled platform, ready for when the installation spot is known.

Booking time needed

There is no specific minimum number of days required for booking; a booking can be made the day before the event. The problem is more likely to arise if we have a large event on the day of your event that needs the fairground hammer.

The best and most advisable thing is to book at least a couple of weeks in advance so that we can organise ourselves and calculate the staff needed for transport and set-up.

We have up to 4 fairground hammer games, so if you want to hire several fairground hammers there is no problem, but in that case we would need at least a month to gather them all, since we have fairground hammers in different parts of Spain and would need to bring them from Madrid, Valencia, Seville and Catalonia.

How to make the booking

To book the fairground hammer you only need to pay 50% of the event in advance, and at that point it is reserved.

To make this payment we need to issue an invoice including all the details of the event and the account number, and for this we need you to send us the following details by email:

• Hammer set-up time/day
• Event start time/day
• Contact to call on arrival at the event
• Event venue
• Company details for invoicing the client

Cancellation Policy

100% of the booking will be refunded if the event is cancelled in its entirety due to force majeure. If it is not due to force majeure, the following points will apply.

• The 50% amount will be kept for a future event, whether for the strength hammer or any other United Events product.
• If you decide to cancel the event on the same day and our operators have already loaded the product and started transporting it to the event venue, the booking cannot be refunded because the work has already begun.
• If the fairground hammers are cancelled for the event and we had already booked a hotel because the event is in Madrid or 3 hours away from Barcelona, we will have to charge at least the accommodation or any item we have bought for that day that we cannot return or have to throw away.
• If you want to swap one product for another for the same day of the event there is no problem, as long as no graphics have been customised; in that case the price of the new graphics for the new product will have to be added.

The price for hiring one or several fairground hammers will depend on the following points,

• Event venue
• Event days/hours
• Need for staff such as hostesses
• Number of strength hammers to hire

You can customise the fairground hammer yourselves with vinyl, Forex or whatever material suits you, as long as the game is returned in the same condition as it was delivered.

If you would like us to do it, we would need two weeks to have time for the printing, design and placement of the promotional branding on the games.

• Zone 2 (Base Side): 40x24cm (height x width)
• Zone 3 (Base Front): 26x34cm (height x width)

You do not need to customise all the zones; you can choose just 1 zone or two zones.

We hire out the strength hammer in Barcelona, Madrid or any city in Spain; 80% of the hire games are located outside Barcelona, such as Madrid, Seville or Valencia.

The prices offered include installation of the strength mallet and its transport as long as it is within 30km of Barcelona; beyond that a per-kilometre supplement applies, both outward and return.

If the journey is more than 3 hours, the operators will have to stay one night in a hotel in the event city, so we would need to charge 1 night of accommodation and meal allowances for the day of transport and the following day for the return.
